Robert Herrmann is the Managing Director of ACA, an independent, specialist agricultural advisory service with its focus firmly on the financial enhancement of primary production and price risk management. The company was established by Robert Herrmann in Adelaide in 1996. With a longstanding background in agriculture, Robert’s commitment was to deliver a high quality proactive risk analysis and management service to clients. Robert has in excess of thirty years’ experience in agriculture, including eleven years as a senior wool specialist with Elders Ltd advising in the marketing and risk management of agricultural commodities.

Senior Client Advisor & Market Analyst

Angus Brown began work as a livestock market analyst for ACA in 2003 after completing an Agricultural Science/Commerce degree at the University of Melbourne. From early in his career at ACA, Angus has had extensive experience in developing risk management strategies for cattle producers and lot feeders. Through this work, he has developed a deep understanding of the drivers of the Australian cattle market, which he has successfully transferred to sheep and lamb markets. He also provides advice to grain growers and consumers on the use of derivatives in hedging strategies. Angus recently moved back to Hamilton to take a closer interest in the family farm, where he implements his knowledge of markets on a daily basis. He uses his strong analytical and communication skills to provide weekly commentary and analytical articles for Mecardo.

Prior to joining ACA, Matt began his career in 1993 with ANZ Bank as a technical analyst for foreign currency and interest rate markets. Matt progressed onto the currency trading desk, both in Australia and London. In 2005 he left ANZ to pursue a career in teaching. Matt spent six years in the education sector initially teaching VCE Economics and then moving onto special needs education. From early childhood, Matt has always had an interest in the agricultural sector. In 2012, he decided to move his family to a hobby farm on the outskirts of Ballarat where he could pursue a more rural lifestyle. Most recently, Matt worked as a property manager for two local real estate firms in Ballarat. Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from RMIT and a postgraduate degree in Education from Monash University.


Andrew Whitelaw, Manager of business development, Mecardo

As Mecardo’s Business Development Manager, Andrew is responsible for managing both the strategic direction and day-to-day operation of Mecardo.  Andrew has a strong agricultural background with extensive understanding of grain markets and commodity risk management.

Andrew has a strong background in the grain industry having worked in various roles in grain marketing and logistics both in the UK and Australia with both large and small traders.

Andrew holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business & IT from the University of the west of Scotland, and a Master of Agribusiness from the University of Queensland.

Augusto has recently returned to Brazil after working for ACA as a market analyst. Augusto was responsible for conducting fundamental and technical analysis of livestock markets, and writing the market analysis, outlook and commentaries for Mecardo. Augusto remains involved with ACA and Mecardo on a contract basis.

Augusto’s post graduate studies at the University of Melbourne involved a research project assessing employment relationships in dairy farming. He also gained invaluable practical experience through his involvement in the operations of his family run beef cattle enterprise (located in Brazil and Parguay). Augusto holds a Bachelor degree in Agronomic Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and a Master of Agribusiness from the University of Melbourne.
